Pure white snow fades to gray
Snow in Tennessee is always such an interesting event. First of all, it is a big event because it is so rare. We were preparing for last week’s snow episode for days. What was supposed to have happened early Friday morning didn’t hit until late Friday afternoon.
When it did hit, it came in with great resolve. As night closed in Friday evening, so did the snow. We woke up Saturday morning to a good blanket of six inches of snow – quite respectable for Tennessee. In our house, we chose to stay hunkered down around the fire. Even the cats elected not to venture far from the house or stay gone for long.
By Monday morning, even though the schools stayed locked up, much of the work world was back to normal. Where there was a pristine blanket of white on Saturday morning, there were piles of dirty snow along the sidewalks on Monday morning.
So here comes the analogy. That’s the way the world is. That’s the way our lives are. God lays down a pure covering of white. Before long, the world creates messy, dirty piles.
There will come a day when God cleans it up and it will stay that way. Watch for it.
